美国警告俄罗斯可能随时入侵乌克兰，外媒报导乌克兰派兵镇守已荒废数十年的切尔诺贝利禁区（Chernobyl exclusion zone），原因是这里是莫斯科通往乌克兰首都基辅的最短距离，俄罗斯可能对此出兵。

《印度斯坦时报》（Hindustan Times）引述《纽约时报》（The New York Times）报导，乌克兰已经派遣部队镇守切尔诺贝利禁区，防范俄罗斯入侵，原因是俄罗斯可能由这里入侵乌克兰。

切尔诺贝利位在乌克兰北方，座落在俄罗斯直捣基辅的最短路程上。自1986年切尔诺贝利核电厂发生核灾后，附近区域就划设为禁区，荒废数十年，宛如”鬼城”。

不过现在乌克兰士兵扛起武器、设备巡视该区域，乌克兰边防局的沙赫莱丘克中校（Yuri Shakhraichuk）表示，”不论是否被污染或是否没人居住，这是我们的领土、我们的国家，我们必须捍卫。”

驻守切尔诺贝利的士兵，脖子上必须穿戴特定仪器以检测辐射值，避免他们误入高辐射区域。

沙赫莱丘克中校说，驻守这里的军队没有能力抵挡入侵，他们的目的是要侦测警告讯号。

目前切尔诺贝利仍有部份人员轮班留守，维护安全设备，一名员工表示：”我们不知道会先被什么杀死，病毒、辐射，还是战争。”
